My first year teaching was not easy. My classroom management wasn't easy , and my students weren't independent. A few years later, I'm back. Now I teach first grade. I put the focus on helping students become self-sufficient problem solvers. My classroom is more efficient and my students are happier.
Support
Timers assist students in setting specific expectations for managing their time. Students are more self-sufficient by practicing and modeling. Timers are a great tool to help students understand the requirements for time. Timers are visual aids that help teachers keep the time specified and help students stay focused. Students become more conscious of how long they have to complete their task and the timer may make them feel more motivated.
The Future and Life Skills
Whether it is always comfortable or not, time-lines and deadlines are a aspect of our lives. My first graders are mature and responsible when I give fullscreen timer. My students have often let me know when a timer has been suspended in error and they have not finished time for x mins, or if they need additional time.
It's a pleasure to see my students be capable of arguing for additional time. Students can request additional time and the timer also lets students know when their work is due to close. My students are also doing their best at the tasks that are required (must complete) immediately to be able to proceed to the next things.
Boundaries
The classroom is defined through using timers. It's work time when the timer is on. If the timer has ended it signifies the start of the transition. The timer signifies that a task or work is due to be completed. Students can request extra time or help as needed. However, it is essential to clearly define and label the time in order that it is clear what time it takes to complete a task.
Community
A healthy classroom community is crucial for academic and life skills and academic benefits. My classroom has become more connected by using large timer and creating more self-sufficient students. My students now feel more time-conscious. They know the time they require on an activity and ask for assistance from me or from a fellow student, as appropriate.
My students are problem solvers in many ways. My students are accountable for their actions as well as their work. My students take care of their classmates and support them as necessary to ensure that they're getting the help they need. These words like accountability, independence, etc may seem large but they can be accomplished in the elementary school environment provided the proper support. My students are extremely responsible and respect each other.
